Note: Captions on the photos identify spaces as I recall them being on USS Waldron DD-699 and may or
may not be accurate for USS Laffey DD-724. While there are differences, the two Sumner-class "tin cans" were so
similar that it is difficult for me to remember when I’m aboard Laffey or reviewing photos of her that it’s not the Waldron.
This visit, at least, I’d finally gotten past the irrational fear that I wouldn’t be granted permission to go ashore! :o)
