The deck log images on this web site are lower resolution than are both the original scans and the "corrected" images made for printing copies for the USS Newport News CA-148 Museum.  I've prepared a CD layout with the original scans done at the US National Archives, intermediate working files created while "correcting" the scans,  and the final images.  That should permit the museum to reprint the log pages,  if ever needed,  and also permit anyone else to redo all or part of the image correction if they want to.  The following "Readme" file on the CD,  with notes about specific image manipulations that were done,   should aid any such effort.
