The plans below are reduced-resolution copies of sheets from the ship's Booklet of General Plans.
Click on the thumbnails for images that are 1/4 the resolution of my scans of the plan sheets.
(Note - If you're using Internet Explorer, you may need to hold the cursor over the 1/4 resolution image when it displays and then click the Expand button when it appears in the lower right corner in order to see the full image size.)
1. If you're a Newport News shipmate, you can email me and I'll be glad to mail you a CD with full-resolution images of my copies. You should be able to take the CD to a local blueprint company and get copies printed. That should be the cheapest of these three sources.
2. You can order paper copies from The Floating Drydock. That source is quick, easy, and moderately priced.
3. I think that the National Archives have the ship's plans (perhaps only on microfilm) and will mail copies for a fee. I haven't contacted them yet but I expect the process to be rather time-consuming and perhaps not inexpensive. The advantage of that source is first-generation copies, not the copies of copies available elsewhere. Time-permitting, I'll look up the links again and post them here. I'll also let you know the results if I ever get around to obtaining copies from them.
I believe these plans to be declassified government documents and in the public domain.
